Arias and Duets: Frederica von Stade and Laurie Rubin in concert

Frederica von Stade, one of the music world's most beloved mezzo sopranos, performs alongside Laurie Rubin who has touched the lives of many as a blind opera singer. Described by the New York Times as "one of America's finest artists and singers," Frederica von Stade continues to be extolled as one of the music world's most beloved figures. Known to family, friends, and fans by her nickname "Flicka," the mezzo-soprano has enriched the world of classical music for three decades. Miss von Stade's career has taken her to the stages of the world's great opera houses and concert halls. Laurie Rubin has performed all over the world, at venues including Carnegie Hall in New York, John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Wigmore Hall in London and the Parcol Auditorium della Musica in Rome. She's been lauded by the New York Times chief classical music critic Anthony Tommasini for her "compelling artistry" and "communicative power." In 2012, she released her memoir, Do you Dream in Color?: Insights From A Girl Without Sight, about her life as a blind opera singer.
