      Best Practices in Positive STD Result Follow-up and Partner Management (San Fran)

      What will you learn?

      This half-day training will provide useful tips for enhancing timely follow-up and treatment for STD positive patients.

      Detailed instructions on completing and submitting Confidential Morbidity Reports (CMRs) to the San Francisco Department of Public Health will be provided. Participants will also receive additional information about the importance and use of CMRs, including how to discuss confidentiality laws with patients.

      The training will also present strategies for addressing partner treatment and identify methods to help prevent and detect reinfection. San Francisco Department of Public Health Disease Intervention Specialist (DIS) resources will be shared to assist in coordination of care for difficult to reach patients.Who should attend?

      Health care team members responsible for client education, positive STD result notification, lab tracking and follow-up including:

      • Clinic and Health Center Managers
      • Medical Assistants
      • Health Educators
      After this session, participants will be able to:
      • Explain the importance of timely follow-up of STD positive test results.
      • Demonstrate how to complete and submit a Confidential Morbidity Report (CMR).
      • Explain the importance of data gathered from the CMR and what happens to the information once it is submitted.
      • Describe strategies for addressing partner management for patients testing positive for chlamydia and gonorrhea and emphasizing the importance of retesting.
      • Identify resources available for completing abnormal/positive STD result follow-up.
      • Know how and when to contact the San Francisco Department of Public Health for assistance with patient tracking.

      Note: Registration closes one week before event.

      There is no cost for this training thanks to the generous support from California’s CDC Infertility Prevention Project (IPP), California Family Health Council (CFHC) and the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH).
