The NCBPMA is now called the Book Promotion Forum! Read about the recent name-change here.
There's no question that the publishing industry is changing, but with these changes comes a wealth of opportunities for publishers and authors to reach their readers in a multitude of ways. From apps to branded products, virtual news stands, webinars, and beyond, we're offering a monthly four-part series, "Beyond the Book," starting July 31 that focuses on the cutting edge ways to reach your readers with the book that's already been written, and possibly even create new revenue streams.

JULY Program: Apps on an Indie Budget

In the past year, the number of purchases made using a mobile device nearly doubled, and mobile users spend 80% of their device usage in apps. Are you reaching people where they’re increasingly making decisions and looking for news and entertainment? In the first part of our four-part “Beyond the Book” series, we’re talking to experts in the app development field about building a mobile strategy to expand a book’s reach. In this event, you’ll learn: •How to create new revenue streams through mobile offerings•Apple vs. Android: is one more indie-friendly than the other?•Tips and resources for creating a winning app worth downloading•What to look for in a good developer or DIY app program This happy hour event comes with built-in networking time by the bar before and after the panel, so bring business cards! A complimentary drink ticket is provided, as well as sweet and savory hors d’ouevres from La Boulange. WHEN: Wednesday, July 31 5-7 pmWHERE: Mechanics Institute Library in San Francisco57 Post Street San Francisco (closest Bart is Montgomery) $20 for members | $35 for non-members___________________________________________________________
