DomPen Presents: Blank Cassette 4/20 ft. Opia

This April 20th, your home-grown experimental music showcase is partnering with DomPen to bring you a scintillating smorgasbord of your favorite subjects: an incredible electronic indie band, experimental techno and R&B artists, live painting, immersive dance projects, and some good ol' 4/20 fun! Per the Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows, opia is defined as:n. the ambiguous intensity of looking someone in the eye, which can feel simultaneously invasive and vulnerable—their pupils glittering, bottomless and opaque—as if you were peering through a hole in the door of a house, able to tell that there’s someone standing there, but unable to tell if you’re looking in or looking out. If you’re intrigued, check out their music here: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Blank Cassette showcases the next wave of electronic, hip hop, and visual artists pushing creative boundaries. Set in a private SOMA art gallery, we feature musicians on the cutting edge of their genres along with unique visual artists: interactive art, live painters, and dancers. This event is 21+ ~~~~~~~~PERFORMERS~~~~~~~~~~Opia is an indie electronic group consisting of Cole Citrenbaum (vocals/guitar), DJ Stanfill (vocals/keys), and colorthought (producer). Faded has garnered placements including Spotify New Music Friday, BBC Radio 1, and TIME Magazine. BLXCK live with samplers, drum machines, live drums and modular synths, Jeremy Black and Trevor Brook’s music explores the extraterrestrial boundaries of techno and the dreamy psychedelic side of electronic music. The duo will be releasing two collaborative LPs later this year, a project called Awefekt recorded at Justin Vernon’s April Base Studio featuring Trever Hagen, Andy Fitzpatrick (Bon Iver), Spank Rock and Producer Ryan Olson (Polica, Gayngs), and a second project featuring Darkside’s Dave Harrington, Apollo Sunshine guitarist Sam Cohen and drummer Jeremy Gustin. Numi’s fresh take on modern R&B incorporates soulful lyricism, ethereal vocal backings, and smooth electronic beats to bring her talents as a singer-songwriter to the forefront.
