      Enriching Common Core Standards Implementation with Personal Finance Concepts

       

       

      Jump$tart board members will provide a brief presentation on progress toward integrating personal finance concepts into common core adoption; with a particular focus on enriching mathematics in the K-12 common core framework.This integration will provide students with contextualized examples, stronger foundations and deeper understanding of key mathematical concepts.

         

      Featured speaker: Jody Hoff, Senior Manager of Education, Communications and Community Outreach, Federal Reserve Bank San Francisco.

       

      Through her research and outreach for the 12th District of the Federal Reserve Bank, Jody Hoff has developed new methods and curricula for understanding the economy and personal finance.  She has been instrumental in bringing the SF Fed's educational outreach into the digital age, enhancing access for educators and students around the nation. 


      Joining the conversation about the intersection of financial literacy and common core standards will be panelists:

      • Lisa Gillis, Chief Academic Officer for Junior Achievement USA discussing JA's important role in common core alignment.
      • Krista Katsantonis, Executive Director of NFTE (Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship) Bay Area, sharing the power of entrepreneurship education and student achievement. 
      • Margaret Libby, Executive Director of Mission SF Financial Center and the innovative MY Path program in San Francisco.
