      Learn how to be a rockstar at your next backyard barbecue

      Charring meat over an open flame is an age-old tradition. But very few people are naturally gifted when it comes to manning the grill.  Some people literally spend years eating substandard burgers and steaks because they think they know how to grill when they really don't. And once they've learned how to do it properly, it's like they've been given a whole new life. In this 2-hour class, you'll learn the finer points of charcoal grillery, including: lighting the coals with a chimney instead of lighter fluid, measuring and controlling grill temperature, direct vs. indirect heat, how to make perfect cross-hatch marks, simple seasoning for great results, and how to grill proteins like beef and chicken, veggies, and even fruit!

      Limit 8 people per class. Lunch included. All food and materials provided by The Distilled Man. BYOB.

      Instructor Bio

      Originally born and raised in Africa, Melanie Burkett has always had a passion for sustainable food, especially when it comes to meat and grilling. A graduate of the Academy of Art Culinary program, she has worked as a chef in a number of different restaurants including butchering at The Fatted Calf.
