Impact Law Forum - September 26 at IDEO.org San Francisco

Dear Attorneys, Legal Professionals, and Law Students,

Impact Law Forum's September 26th meeting will feature Sean Hewens, IDEO.org’s Knowledge Manager + In-House Counsel: How might we as lawyers use the human-centered design process to provide better legal services to our social sector clients? How might we as lawyers uncover opportunities for innovation and design in the legal profession? Building off of his previous Impact Law Forum talk in April 2013, Sean will lead a discussion and a brainstorming session as we'll seek to identify opportunity areas where we might integrate human-centered design into the legal profession.

About Sean Hewens: Sean is the Knowledge Manager + In-House Counsel at IDEO.org, a nonprofit design consultancy using human-centered design to tackle poverty related challenges around the world.  At its core, the human-centered design process is based upon the fundamental belief that gaining a deep understanding of the needs, hopes, and aspirations of potential customers and the lives they live yields incredible inspiration for new solutions.  In his capacity as Knowledge Manager, Sean oversees IDEO.org’s mission to spread human-centered design throughout the social sector.  Sean has helped document and tell stories about every aspect of the IDEO.org design process, while also designing curricula and teaching on the topic of human-centered design.  Sean also serves as IDEO.org’s In-House Counsel.  Sean joined IDEO.org in 2011 after two years as the executive director of a Boston-based social enterprise with an innovative educational approach that combined a technology skills instruction with cultural preservation training.  Prior to entering the world of social enterprise, Sean worked as a corporate attorney for four years at WilmerHale in Boston and Venable in Baltimore.  He began his professional career as an investigator of police misconduct in New York City.  Sean holds an undergraduate degree from Columbia University and a law degree from Georgetown.  He is also a dropout from the graphic design program at the Massachusetts College of Art + Design.
