May Courage to Run: Bridging the Bay

Resilient bodies. Strong minds. Visionary leaders.

This month we enjoyed San Francisco's Embarcadero. In May, we are 'Bridging the Bay' - going port to port - and launching, running and brunching from Oakland's Jack London Square! Registration closes on Tuesday, May 14 at 5pm.

Thank you to all who attended the April Courage to Run. You made our official launch an overwhelming success. Love the energy. Love the vision. Love the commitment. Building on what we are creating, the May event is continuing to blend the hard and soft, structured and emergent, and even more fun. Our goal is for all who participate to walk away feeling healthy, inspired, with immediately implementable tips of the trade and a clarity and courage to act on a salient goal.

A detailed itinerary will be sent to registered participants no later than Thursday, May 16 that will include what to bring, transportation options, recommended running routes, discussion deets and more. Below is a snapshot of what to expect (which is subject to change*):

8:30am: Coffee, warm-up + ABS circuit (!) (note: please arrive a bit early; warm-up starts promptly)

      8:50am: Formal welcome

9:10am: Work it! Multiple recommended routes provided based on your personal needs + rolling dynamic flow and core strengthening with Miriam of Yoga Prive

10:30am: Sips, full brunch at Forge and discussion with May's featured speaker and Chief Motivator, Hilary Gevondyan

11:55am: Thank you and congratulations. Have a great weekend!

Mother, transactional real estate lawyer, advocate for domestic violence survivors and immigration asylum and U-Visa petitioners, UC Hastings College of Law and UC Berkeley School of Law Adjunct Professor... *AND* she sings in a rock band! Hilary's calculated and constant search for rewarding, exciting and fulfilling personal and professional life acts as a guiding tool to educate and empower. Thank you for joining us!

We're a group of women deeply passionate about integrating different parts of ourselves for sustained performance and well-being. We love being outdoors. We love brunch. We love connecting with inspiring women across sectors. We love laughing. We love identifying our 'stretches' and leveraging the will, skill and courage to not only achieve but exceed our personal/professional goals.

Frieda K. Edgette, Founder and Chief Running Warrior

Frieda is the Founder and Principal of Novos Consulting, a change management and coaching consultancy that helps individuals, teams and organizations through strategic transitions. While training for her first marathon, Frieda gained the clarity of what she needed from work/life, crafted a vision and accessed the courage to (1) run the marathon and (2) launch a business. Movement in its many forms is a keystone to her happiness: dance, yoga, running, rock climbing, playing on the jungle gym with her super cute nephews - whatever. She is all about collective empowerment and believes in stretching oneself, proving our self limiting beliefs wrong. She has a MSc in Organizational and Social Psychology from the London School of Economics and is an accredited executive coach.

      Miriam Hidalgo, Mestra of Mindfulness

Miriam began her practice in 2008 after years of adrenaline sports: boxing, cross fit, running and cycling. While yoga keeps her fit, it is the connection between mind, body and spirit that has proven most healthful. Miriam enjoys teaching, she earned her M.A. in Education from Harvard, and she loves yoga; combining the two was a natural step. She is currently completing the 500-hour training program and mentoring with Yoga Tree’s Pete Guinosso. Miriam’s classes focus on movement, breath and strength, combining graceful flow with healthy alignment to build deep muscle strength, flexibility and body awareness. Classes also taught in Spanish.
