The Next Door Shelter (part of Episcopal Community Services) is the largest 24-hour emergency homeless shelter in San Francisco. There are about 335 adults who live at the shelter every night. These individuals have access to breakfast and dinner every day, as well as mental health services, housing support groups, medical assistance and more. The dinner meal is cooked in our kitchen but we are always in need of volunteers to help serve the meal. Volunteers are needed from 6:00-8:00 pm to help serve dinner and clean-up. There is a lot of room to interact with shelter residents, including assisting seniors and disabled individuals with their food trays and welcoming clients to the dining room.
