      Join us on Tuesday, September 10th for an epic debate over the existence of "The Series A Crunch." Contribute to the conversation as our panel of investment veterans battle it out using both qualitative and quantitative techniques. Once and for all, we'll be able to determine the state of the bubble, and whether it is expending, plateauing, or shrinking. We look forward to seeing you there!

      John Bautista, Partner at Orrick- Head of Orrick's Emerging Companies Group

      John Bautista, a partner in the Silicon Valley office, is head of Orrick's Emerging Companies Group, which advises emerging companies and investors. Before joining Orrick, he was a co-founder of Venture Law Group and served on the Executive Committee. Mr. Bautista previously practiced at Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati. Mr. Bautista focuses on emerging companies, and represents both public and private high-tech companies in many areas, including corporate and securities law, venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, public company representation, and technology licensing.

      Dave Hornik- General Partner at August Capital

      For more than a decade, David has worked with technology startups throughout the software sector. In 2000, David joined August Capital to invest broadly in information technology companies. Prior to joining August Capital David was an intellectual property and corporate attorney at Venture Law Group and Perkins Coie. In his legal practice, David represented high tech startups in all aspects of their formation, financing, and operations, including the likes of Yahoo!, Evite (Ticketmaster) and Ofoto (Kodak). David is currently a lecturer at Stanford's Graduate School of Business, where he teaches intellectual property, and the Harvard Law School, where he teaches entrepreneurship and venture capital. He is the author of VentureBlog , the first capital blog, and VentureCast, the first venture capital podcast.

      Carl Showalter- General Partner at Opus Capital

      Carl’s current areas of interest include the Internet of Things, network virtualization, next generation wireless, and data center/cloud infrastructure software. Before joining Opus Carl was a General Partner with Lightspeed Venture Partners. Prior to this Carl served as Vice President of Marketing at Juniper Networks, where he built and led a global marketing and product management organization. Before Juniper, Carl was Vice President of Dial and Broadband Services for UUNET, overseeing the 300-person, $1B revenue division. He also held various sales and management positions at ANS, an AOL company, where he helped build AOL’s modem access network and then helped launch hardware-based firewalls and IP VPNs in the mid 1990′s. Carl began his career at Bellcore, focusing on network security and data service delivery. At Bellcore, Carl performed logical and physical attacks on phone company infrastructure, helping them fix these vulnerabilities.


      Mark Schulze- Vice President at Clover.com

      Mark spent the first half of his career working for sexy consumer Internet and software products (AOL, Digital Cities, Intuit and AltaVista).  The second half of his career has been dominated by unsexy enterprise companies -- Mark was the first business person at Quantcast and was responsible for establishing their publisher network.  He was also instrumental in helping to solidify Quantcast's reputation in the advertising and publisher universe.    More recently at Clover Network, Mark has been responsible for forging relationships with banks, credit card processors, and most importantly with developers.  Cloud based, Clover is an open point of sale platform that is open to developers wanting to have tighter integration between their apps and brick and mortar customer experiences.  


      Sid Conklin - President/ COO at Real Gravity Inc

      Sid Conklin is serial entrepreneur whose ventures include RealGravity, an online video syndication company acquired by Scripps Network Interactive (NYSE: SNI) in 2012, ZeroDegrees, a business social network acquired by IAC (NASDAQ: IACI) in 2004, Pronto, a shopping comparison engine an internal IAC startup 2006, and SportNet, a sports media company. He is currently President of RealGravity. Sid graduated from San Jose State University with a B.S. in geology.
