Sculpture Workshop: Using the Natural World as a Source, Inspiration and Backdrop

The Natural World explores, through a series of small-scale sculpture projects, wild animals, rocks, forest, beaches, and in general those things that have not been substantially altered by human intervention, or which persist despite human intervention. They will use found objects to create animals and plaster and clay to cast plant forms. Channeling Andy Goldsworthy, they will make ephemeral constructions from nature and photograph them. They will create sculptures that respond to the wind and objects that speak of environmental concerns. Each class will include a discussion of related current and historical art, a group critique and the opportunity to photograph your work.
