Hip Hop Green Dinner - Oakland

The Youth and Family Green Dinners are prepared by professional chefs and the food is locally sourced from Oakland urban farms and Mandela Food Co-op. We feature entertainment by hip hop artists, youth poets, filmmakers and activists in the health, environmental and food justice movements to help youth and their families make connections between their diet, lifestyle, community and their health through hip hop culture.  Featuring performances by stic from dead prez, SA-ROC and Sol Messiah, Youth Speaks and talks by lauren Ornelas of the Food Empowerment Project, Keith Tucker of Hip Hop Is Green, and AshEl Seasunz of Earth Amplified and Urban Farmacy. Event made possible by The Akonadi Foundation, United Roots, Planting Justice, EBALDC, First 5 Alameda County, Rainbow Grocery, The Greenlining Institute, Green For All, Bi-Rite Grocery, Pachamama Alliance, and Nia Community Fund. In-kind support from Chef Yulanda of Simply Bliss Catering and Mandela Food Co-op. Please Note:  This event is primarily for youth and their families. We have limited seating and want to give priority to youth.  Any adult attending should be accompanied by a youth or affliated with one of our sponsors.
