Kundalini Yoga with Teg Dhyan Kaur

Kundalini yoga, or the "Yoga of Awareness," is likely very different than other types of yogas you've practiced before.  Kundalini is a blend of both spiritual and physical practices, incorporating movement, dynamic breathing techniques, meditation, and mantra.  It may seem strange at first, but stick with it to feel the after effects.  Kundalini agitates you -- physically, mentally, & spiritually - pressing you to move past your blocks & then easing you into a state of relaxation.  In the real world, this means when "fight or flight" mode strikes, your body (and mind and soul too) are equipped with the tools needed to come to a less reactive state -- reducing heart rate, breathing, anxiety, and mental distress.  The practice itself is physical, demanding, peaceful, joyful, relaxing, and fun.  Come and check out the community, enjoy the workout, and leave with an elevated spirit!    When: Sundays @ 11 am What to wear: comfortable yoga clothing, white preferred (but not required) and a head wrap, if desired (this is to keep the energy from leaving the body) What to bring: yoga mat, cushion, and blanket. if desired; towel, Kundalini sheepskin blanket, towel, other accessories (you can also borrow equipment) What to expect: The hour and half will be spent practicing different kriyas and meditations and may include chanting, gong-work, and singing. As with any practice, do what feels comfortable for you, break when needed, and only take what serves you. About your instructor: Teg Dhyan Kaur is a KRI-certified Kundalini Yoga Teacher who studied the practice from the original students of Yogi Bhajan, who brought Kundalini yoga, the Yoga of Awareness, from India to the West in the 1970s. Three years ago, Teg Dhyan found Kundalini yoga when it seemed all areas of her life were falling apart, losing her relationship, her friend and mentor, career, and financial stability at the same time.  As life was spiraling downward, so were her drinking habits, and a friend suggested trying Kundalini yoga to restore balance into her life while releasing the traumatic emotions from the rapid changes in her life. She had practiced other types of yoga before, but had never connected to the practices and never found the sort of peace her friends did, saving those moments of mental quietness for very physically demanding workouts instead.  But, after her very first Kundalini yoga class, she knew she was home. At first, Kundalini yoga was a safe place to work through and release very difficult emotions and get in touch with her inner voice, going deep within for the first time.  As it evolved, it became a deeply creative and spiritual practice, and finally replaced nearly all other fitness activities, finding it a complete physical, mental, and spiritual work out. As a feminist and social justice activist, Teg Dhyan struggled with the election in 2016 and realized that instead of going outward, the time called to go deeply inward, and she signed up for her 200 hour Kundalini yoga certification.  In fact her spiritual name, Teg Dhyan Kaur, means the sacred lioness who through meditation embodies God’s protective sword in the world. She now teaches regularly to a small and committed group of followers and is expanding her offerings to reach a broader audience who can benefit from this powerful yogic technology.  She offers yoga that soothes the soul, heals relationship trauma, and helps keep inner calm in a chaotic and sometimes cruel world. She also is an avid dog lover, so occasionally, Yogi Peanut, her beloved little Bichon, will make an appearance in class. Contact me: or at
