THE LIGHTS AND SHADOWS OF RENAISSANCE INNOVATION FROM FLORENCE TO SILICON VALLEY: Innovation Leadership lessons from Leonardo da vinci, Michelangelo, Machiavelli and other polymaths 2019 marks 500 years of the Renaissance of Florence, Italy, symbolically represented by Leonardo da Vinci (d. 1519). It also marks 50 years of Silicon Valley with the establishment of HP in 1939. These two regions and periods have a lot in common with the emergence of numerous innovative mindsets and a system of venture capitalists investing in discoveries, the arts and human values. There are many parallels and common lessons from the past that need to be rediscovered in order to benefit humanity and our common future. A presentation and a conversation with Dr. Marco Tavanti, Professor of Management at University of San Francisco and native of Arezzo, the birthplace of Michelangelo. He will present his findings from the study and publication of Humanistic Renaissance for Good: Leadership Lessons from Florence to Silicon Valley (Information Age Publishing).
