About From Madness to Mindfulness: Reinventing Sex for Women

If you grew up female in America, you may feel the effects of “sexual madness” – the undermining and inaccurate messages many girls and women receive around their bodies and sexual expression. This keeps women stuck in sexual shame, viewing their bodies as the enemy, or believing that they’re dysfunctional. But according to Jennifer Gunsaullus, PhD, sociologist and intimacy coach, we can break free from this labyrinth of societal baggage in relation to sexual education, expectations, communication, and pleasure.“From Madness to Mindfulness: Reinventing Sex” for Women helps women empower themselves and future generations to transition out of a state of sexual madness and into a state of sexual mindfulness. Through a compassionate lens, Dr. Jenn guides women to assess levels of mis-education regarding relationships, sex, passion, communication, desire, body image, and worthiness, and then integrate applied mindfulness practices to start rewriting their sexual stories. Replete with personal stories and client examples, along with guided questions and exercises to create a personal Reinventing Sex plan, women can become thriving sexual beings…on their own terms.

      About Marta Gorski

Endlessly inspired by the curves of nature and bodyscapes alike, Marta Gorski has sought foundation for her work in the human figure. Since the early stages, Gorski has used various processes to create concept-driven installations. Her work is motivated by the tumultuous balance of social sexuality and aims to explore the consequence of intimacy through alternative perspectives. Gorski is a Canadian-born installation artist living in Oakland, California. She has a Bachelor of Fine Art with a Focus in Glass, and a Master of Business Administration. She works frequently with glass as a medium, but is not tied to any one process. Currently, she is exploring hot glass sculpting, large-format casting and neon.

      Artist Statement
As an artist, my aim is to foster opportunities for people to understand and empathize with feminist ideologies. I create experiential works that catalyze conversations, where the presentation of the experience is not specific to any one gender and participants can safely share their perspectives, however different. I believe people learn best through experiencing situations themselves and because of this, I strive to make work that encompasses people and immerses them in new situations. My upcoming show, Touch Stop, is designed to foster empathy by engaging participants in an understanding of the lady experience, and challenging beliefs that tolerate aggressive, coercive, objectifying and controlling behavior. Touch Stop is a tour of installed exhibitions comprised of hand-sculpted, glass phalluses engaged in various circumstances. In this edition, I will be displaying a large neon dick in the Project Space. Aimed at the outside world, this dick will light your way through the Frank H. Ogawa Plaza passage and lurk at you suspiciously as you move through your day.
