WISC is proud to announce the third and final event of our 2019 speaker series, “Amplifying Our Voice”. We end this year by focusing on how to amplify your voice in the political sphere. Join our guest speakers Catharine Baker and Kristin Connelly in a small, bipartisan setting as they share their personal stories on how they first became involved in politics. We will explore your options for getting involved and influencing others in the manner that best suits you: be it running for political office, working on a campaign, actively supporting ballot measures, or other volunteer efforts. Join us as we discuss the spectrum of opportunities to make your voice heard. Assemblywoman Catharine Baker represented the 16th Assembly District from 2014 through 2018. During her legislative tenure, Catharine developed a reputation as an independent, bipartisan voice in the Legislature, fostering collaboration that lead to breakthroughs in significant legislation, particularly on the environment, transportation, and government accountability. As the Sacramento Bee reported, Catharine had the most bipartisan record of any Assemblymember in her first term alone. Her collaborative leadership made her one of the most effective members of the Assembly. In just four years, sixteen of her bills — all supporting education, transportation, public safety, and government efficiency — passed the Legislature with bipartisan support, and all sixteen were signed into law. Kristin Connelly is the President and CEO of the East Bay Leadership Council, an employer-led public policy advocacy organization focused on economic vitality and quality of life in the East Bay. She is also the Executive Director of the Contra Costa Economic Partnership. A Voice! - $50.00
